More modern, faster, more precise - the new milling center at Alba headquarters
In order to meet customer requirements in the future, Alba is investing in the expansion of the machine park in the field of milling. From now on, a highly dynamic milling machine from DMG will be used to handle workpieces up to 30 tons.
Delivery and construction - a logistical challenge
The delivery and installation of the new milling center was a logistical challenge for Alba's employees. The milling machine was delivered to Forstau with 6 special transports of up to 28 m in length. The transfer to the workshop required a 150 ton special crane. The takeover and construction of the new milling machine take place in several stages, which last for a total of 4 weeks. Commissioning is scheduled for November 2019.
The next generation of milling machines
With the expansion of the machine park around the new milling center, Alba is setting new standards in the field of milling. The throughput speed of workpieces is increased by 30%. Cameras inside the mill allow maximum safety and precision. The highly dynamic milling machine is used for machining aluminum up to tool steel. The state-of-the-art control and operating technology will pave the way for digitization Industry 4.0. With up to 60 sensors, both the machine and the work processes are controlled and monitored. Maximum working space - with minimum space requirement - makes the milling machine convincing on the whole line. Workpieces of a size up to 6 x 2.8 x 1.2 m can be processed. Through the use of multi-axis technology, Alba CNC produces precision machined components for the automotive, railway, aerospace, cable car, electrical and construction, furniture and textile industries. In addition to in-house production, the new milling machine is also available for external orders in the area of contract manufacturing of large and complex workpieces.
