Ultralight construction - consistent lightweight construction in the automotive interior

In the partner project #Ultraleichtbausitz, a vehicle seat with a total weight of around 10 kg was completely redeveloped.

As part of a 7-month project, the initiators ALBA tooling & engineering, the vehicle developer csi entwicklungsstechnik and the management consultancy AMC jointly developed the virtual and hardware prototypes of a microlight building.

The ultralight construction of this concept is based on the consistent use of the latest technologies. As a specialist for manufacturing systems in the field of high-quality plastic components, Alba has developed the production and tool technologies for ultra-light PU molded foam parts as well as non-woven fabrics. In addition, a novel tool concept for hybrid carbon fiber composite lightweight construction on single strands (via xFK in 3D) and for lightweight sandwich trim parts from Alba was specially designed for the #lightlighter seat.

The concept is rounded off by the use of metal and plastic 3D printing as well as sustainable and highly thermally conductive seat upholstery fabric.
