Pure Applications for the mobility of the future
What is PUR?
Polyurethanes (abbreviation PUR or PU) are plastics or synthetic resins. In all its forms, PUR (polyurethane) is a modern, versatile material that can be used to produce an almost unlimited range of components.
- In the automotive industry, components such as instrument panels, door panels, seats, headrests and sound-absorbing components (acoustic foams) are used.
- In the field of electromobility, polyurethane foams have many applications, such as battery housings or sound insulation and heat insulation.
- Polyurethane can be used to make vehicles lighter and thus significantly reduce energy consumption. Lightweight components in electric vehicles make it possible to increase the range.

Smart Material "Tannin foam"
In cooperation with the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (Campus Kuchl), Alba is currently working on a completely natural industrial foam. This is made possible by tannins obtained from the bark of native trees. The advantages of the natural foam are obvious. Tannin foam is non-flammable, has very good thermal properties, is extremely resilient and is 100% recyclable. Tannin foam is a so-called a smart material that has the potential to revolutionize the market and replace the polyurethane foams used so far.
